The Order

Characters

This page is growing alongside the campaign. The crew is complete; contacts and recurring faces will fill in as more of them earn a permanent spot in the story.

01 The Crew
Player Character

Paulie

Kitsune — the Fox Spirit

Drag queen, Order accountant, and the crew's warmest, most dangerous liar. Wears other people's faces when the truth won't open a door. Misses Pete more than he says out loud.

Player Character

Billie

Morpheus

Walks through other people's dreams like they're hallways. Charming, restless, complicated with her father. If you've told her something in your sleep, she already knows it.

Player Character

Susan

St. Catherine of Alexandria

Keeps a notepad that answers questions it shouldn't be able to answer. Wants the truth more than she wants to be safe — and has started pushing the archive further than anyone asked her to.

Player Character

Johnson

Papa Legba

Runs the family bar and, increasingly, the crew's contact book. Opens doors — literal and otherwise — and hears things at the crossroads the rest of you don't.

Player Character

Randall

Tiamat

A statistician who'd very much like an ordinary life. Builds models that keep turning up things that shouldn't exist. Currently down an arm.

What the Drowned Remember

Once per session, Janine can recall something a dead person forgot or left unsaid — a detail, a location, a last word. You gain a Clue with source “Janine.”

About Janine

Whatever Paulie did at the morgue — possessing her corpse mid-chase, reading her last memories, refusing to just leave her — didn't end when they got out. Janine is up and moving again. Not alive. Not undead in any threatening sense. Just still here, water running off her in a way that never quite stops, following Paulie with the loyal, slightly checked-out devotion of someone who isn't sure what happened to her but knows who was kind to her at the end.

Too Fast, Too Soon

Once per session, Lil' Sherm can do something genuinely impressive — but afterward, give him in over his head-2 as a story status that JJ has to deal with.

Kid Sees Everything

Once per session, Lil' Sherm notices something an adult would have missed. The MC tells you one true thing about the scene that no other move would have revealed.

About Lil' Sherm

Technically Johnson's nephew — though don't ask anyone in the family to explain exactly how the tree branches, because the answer changes depending on who's telling it. What everyone agrees on is that the kid is always available. Dentist appointment. Stomach bug. Half day at school. Whatever it takes — if his grand-pappy needs him, Lil' Sherm materializes, grinning, smelling faintly of firecrackers, ready to be useful in ways that probably shouldn't be legal for a kid his age.

He's young. He's scrappy. He's gotten Johnson out of more than one situation by doing something so unexpected that the other guy just stood there blinking. Don't count him out because of his size — Lil' Sherm has a habit of surprising people.

And sometimes, late at night, when the city gets quiet and the crossroads feel close, Johnson wonders whether the boy's luck is really just luck at all.

The Cart

The E-Z-File-O-Matic
Relic of St. Catherine, Patron Saint of Archivists · only Susan can fully wake it
Mystery

What is this thing anyway — and what does it want?

Power Tags
Carries an impossible load
Everything has a place
Trundling guardian of the records
Weakness Tag
Compelled to file correctly
Status

Active, recurring. Currently loaded with the stolen Kairos boardroom bundles — hot evidence and a fate-correction magnet. Verdandi will want them back.

About The Cart

A battered, squeaky-wheeled Order filing cart, dented and overloaded, that Susan woke up without entirely meaning to. Hauls, sorts, hides, and protects the records — and will not, under any circumstances, let a misfiling stand.

03 BOLO — Be On The Lookout
BOLO

Mina Kalashnikov

Whereabouts unknown — approach with extreme caution

An older woman, unnervingly calm. First crossed paths with the crew outside the Belenko townhouse — didn't flinch, didn't fight, caught a thrown weapon out of the air one-handed without blinking. Last seen on the far bank of the canal, knitting, watching, the night Janine died there. She has a name now. That's most of what the crew has.

BOLO

The Wolf

Wounded, actively hunting — knows the crew's faces

First met chained in gold at the Belenko townhouse, already half-changed — more animal than man the longer you were in the room. Found the crew again at the city morgue, took real damage, and broke off behind a smoke screen rather than go down. He hasn't stopped looking.

04 Contacts & Recurring Faces
Contact

Sammy More TBD

Runs the last drive-in near Willowgrove — which turns out to belong to Pete. Can pull things halfway out of a movie screen. Lost a real UFO reel to “the Gatekeepers” years back and hasn't stopped thinking about it.

Contact

Fenrir More TBD

Chained to a Willowgrove street corner by something none of your gear could touch. Protective of the local kids, openly hostile to “the Gatekeepers,” and more afraid of one specific woman in a red hood than of anything else you've mentioned to him.
